
Learn to Play is an introduction to the game of hockey for new players ages 4-12. This program was created jointly by the National Hockey League Players’ Association and the National Hockey League. Blazers Ice Centre Learn to Play is presented by the Dallas Stars.
The Learn to Play program provides a unique opportunity for families to join the hockey community and for participants to develop fundamental skills to help them succeed both on and off the ice. Players receive six hours of instruction in hockey fundamentals, along with a new set of skates and starter equipment.
Blazers Ice Centre hosts three to four Learn to Play sessions annually. Upcoming dates are posted on this page as soon as they are available. Learn to Play meets on selected Saturday mornings from 8-9 AM.
COST: $210/Player + 3.14% Processing
Payment and registration for new players is through the Dallas Stars organization.

BIC LEARN TO PLAY EXTENSION SESSIONS
Between regular sessions, when coaches and staff are available, Blazers Ice Centre offers Learn to Play extension sessions. An upcoming extension session will begin on July 18, 2026, and this session is open to all returning Learn to Play players ages 4-12. These extension sessions keep our emerging players on the ice and in the game, ensuring that skills continue to develop.
COST: $100 / PLAYER + applicable sales tax

TIME : 8-9 AM
Session extensions do NOT include additional equipment. These sessions are simply additional instruction offered at an affordable price to aid skill development. Full gear is required for all players.

RETURNING PLAYERS
Players who have already completed their first Learn to Play session may sign up through Blazers Ice Centre to return to Learn to Play for any subsequent session. Many players wish to return to reinforce and practice the skills they learned during their first session. For more information on how to return for an additional session, please send an email to blazersicecentre@gmail.com. Be sure your subject line says “Learn to Play” and include your players’ names and ages.
