COURSE DESCRIPTION

Adult figure skaters learn and develop differently than children. Off-Ice for Adults is an adult space for figure skaters 18+ working at any level. Whether you are brand new to figure skating, or you have competed since childhood, this is a one-of-a-kind learning environment focused specifically on the needs and learning styles of adult skaters. Emphasis is on developing the flexibility, timing, and control required to harness the power of adult physicality on the ice. Skaters may train single and multi-rotation jumps, spins, and other skills designed to help each individual athlete achieve his or her skating goals. Skaters from any Learn to Skate program or figure skating club (or none at all) are welcome.

WHAT TO BRING

Please dress comfortably. Wear a pair of athletic shoes and bring a spinner (if you have one), a jump rope, a yoga mat, and a bottle of water to stay hydrated! Note: If you have all of these things, throw them in the car! If you don’t have something, no worries. We have some you can borrow.

PRIMARY INSTRUCTOR

CARMON SCOTT

Carmon is a Blazers Ice Centre institution. She has been coaching since 1998, and specializes in Freestyle, Moves in the Field, Ice Dance, and Power Skating for hockey. She also enjoys coaching off-ice conditioning (hockey and figure) and off-ice jumps for figure skaters. She has coached her figure skaters to Novice Moves and Juvenile Freeskate levels and enjoys the challenge of teaching the physics of a jump take off and the centering of a spin. Carmon’s joyful spirit has inspired countless athletes to improve and advance in the sport of figure skating.
